Southside’s Response to COVID-19
Southside Skatepark in South Houston and Southside Skateshop at Westheimer/Wilcrest are here to serve you.  These are difficult times for all, but it is our goal to provide you a sense of normalcy.  We will continue to keep normal hours of operation and increase our efforts disinfecting high traffic touching areas.
We are increasing the cleaning of check out/check-in counters, door handles, bathrooms, and other high-traffic and high-touch areas.  We will be doing this at the beginning and end of every shift.

Skateboarding can help get you at least 20 minutes of low to moderate-intensity exercise to boost your immune system.  This movement results in the production of more white blood cells, which combat bacteria and viruses, and promotes improved circulation.

We respectfully request that if you are not feeling well, please reschedule your visit for when you are feeling better, for the safety of our staff and other customers.

We are confident that our skatepark and shops are safe, and we look forward to welcoming you to Southside as we have for 26 years.  With your support, we will overcome this situation together.  If you have any questions for us please respond to this email and we will try to answer in a timely manner.

Here is LAST YEAR’S Recap Message from Chip Wright

“THANKS TO ALL who skated, Cheered & Supported the inaugural Bowl O Cones series!!! Catch up post on how Stoking the series was and what a Fantastic final! Special thanks Co-ConeHeads helping make this happen Joey Clarke, Lou Statman, and Kenny Harrison. Input plus procedure help from Cory Thornhill and Erik Conn. We planned & accomplished setting the foundation growing this even better next year! BOC 2020! *Our Final event was staged just as hoped with series leaders, yet possible jostling series points for the top ten, from the ATX locals, many who didn’t make the previous two events (that will be different next series). Basically Mr Everlasting-Gobstopper-Energizer- OG Bunny aka Mike Kelly just needed to show up to maintain his series points lead, which he did BUT looming was the pressure of Three Straight wins and loving target on his back. ATX showed strong with our largest field of 21 skaters, about double of the other stops. And after a slight rain to, um, clean the bowl … we got things going. After the coping dust settled, Mike held serve with the fastest 20.6 best run, a vary narrow 1.44-second win over Cory and even more narrow margin .02 2nd over the Passionate One Lou for 3rd. Props to first-timer Harley Till just missing 3rd by .83 to come in fourth. *Even better Top 12 with ONLY 6.44 seconds between = WOW Props Joey, Kemp Mierzwa, Jeremy Clarke Fox, Jeff Minx, John Cantu, Clayton Ryan Taylor, Rob Booker, and Kenny! So many others I tagged but if I missed, please add because we can’t do BOC without you all! The Texas Skateboarding family is so strong and ATX among the best people I know. Tons of fans, amazing sponsors. Got Rocked by The TR3S Passers to finish a Fantastic Series! Stay tuned for BOC Group page, updates and this crazy thing blowing up more next year.
