Short Q/A with Jamie Thomas

Bigo:  Zero recently celebrated 20 years of skateboarding.  When you were on the road with Toy Machine and wore that first Zero Hoodie, your new small brand idea at the time, did you ever think it was even possible?

Jamie:  I was only 21 at the time, so I don’t think I could comprehend anything further than 6 months in the future.  I knew what I liked and I felt like there was a void in skateboarding for a bold brand based in rock n roll.

Bigo:  When Zero began it seemed like it was rising up so quick.  How did you manage your time between building Zero and continuing to push the boundaries of skateboarding?  At the time taking your skateboarding to the largest gaps and rails all over the world.

Jamie:  At that time I got a lot of help from Tum Yeto Distribution, so all I had to manage was the graphics, team and making videos.  Skating and making videos was the focus; everything else was an after thought.

Bigo: You’ve witnessed so many changes in skateboarding yet Zero remains true to it’s roots while continuing to adapt.  What’s been the most effective way of helping the next generation connnect with Zero?

Jamie:  New team riders, videos and working on what we’re focused on, so if they dig it or connect then they can introduce Zero to their customers.

Bigo:  Thanks Jamie, really looking forward to the new Damn It All video and all the coverage that is going to come out of this United States of Whatever Tour.  Thanks for coming to Southside Skatepark this year and thanks for doing the collaborative deck with us.

Jamie:  Thank You

Zero Skateboards Tour  hit Southside Skatepark with eleven Pros and Ams in attendance.  Southisde Skatepark was the third stop on their 30 day tour in which they are also filming for their new video Damn It All.  The team hit the skatepark at 7pm and didn’t stop skateboarding until 9:30pm.  Zero Skateboards and Southisde Skatepark released a small limited run of boards at the demo.  There are literally only a hand full left and you can purchase them at our online store.  Check out these great photos from Zero Skateboards photographer Cameron Strand.

Chris Wimer Layed It Down So Hard

During the Zero Skateboards Tour people were stopping by the shop and talking about how Chris Wimer was crushing the park.  Kickflip frontside lipslide and just all around ruling the street course.  He was going so hard he ended up hurting his ankle and had to sit out the second half.  Southside Skatepark wishes him a speedy recovery and looks forward to him being back on board asap.

Tony Cervantes and a new AM Reggie both skated the entire demo and made it through the entire signing with flying colors.  Committed to skateboarding for sure.  Thanks for coming out and thanks for the support guys.  James Brockman skated hard the entire time and is just an all around rad human.  It’s awesome to witness his skateboarding for yourself first hand.  Still killing it and should have a solid part in the up coming Zero Skateboards Damn It All video for sure.

Gustavo Servin Coming Out Swinging

Unknown Zero Skateboards AM Gustavo Servin went at the street course for a solid two and half hours.  Many of those in attendance were witnessing his skateboarding for the first time.  We are certainly looking forward to his new video part for sure after seeing him ride the park.
