Skateboarding Lock In at Southside Skatepark Always a Great Time

Thanksgiving Lock In | November 19, 2016

This year’s Thankgiving Lock In was extra solid due to the team presence and product support from Geometric Skateboards.  Most of the time, Southside Skatepark supplies the product that’s up for grabs throughout the night.  This year with Geometric adding about 4 more boards in addition to what is pictured below the crew on hand to skate the Lock In were extra stoked.  Best Trick events went down on the pyramid and six stair.  We had a mini ramp jam, bowl jam and Games of SKATE.  There was a high ollie contest and of course we found the worst board in the room and hooked that skateboarder up with a fresh deck.  With extra goodies such as Spitfire Wheels, Independent Trucks, Bones Bushings and Wax everyone went home with a little something.

Your night begins with check in at the window using Smart Waiver from your phone prior to arriving.

We just launched our new website and Smart Waiver November 1st and it’s so conveinent allowing families to complete the waiver for their skateboarder without having to leave home.  Once you have entered your skateboarder into our Smart Waiver system your all set.  You do not have to complete one again, your Emergency Contact Information is in our system. Knock this out, get your wristband and get ready to skate until 8am the next morning.

We usually start up the Best Trick contests and Games of SKATE around 10pm

At 11:30pm we serve the midnight pizza and make sure that everyone starts with two large slices of pizza, either pepperoni or cheese.  The line moves super fast and feel free to come back for seconds because we always have more.  It is our goal to make sure you have a great time and with the energy that skateboarding all night is going to require.  If the pizza is not enough the snack bar is always available.  We keep it stocked with water, granola bars, chips, candy, pop tarts, energy drinks and frozen foods to get you through the all night event.

After pizza the skateboarders get back to learning new tricks and sessioning the bowl, mini ramp and street course with their friends.  Of course there are more opportunities to win free product from the event sponsors throughout the night.

If you are not trying to win free product, we have plenty of skatepark to keep you moving.

When it Comes to Actually Sleeping During the Skate Board Lock In it’s Always Different

Sometimes at the lock in we have many people arrive with sleeping bags and generally people crash out in the corner of the bowl deck and also the crows nest area.  Most of the time people do not bring anything to sleep on and the entire group of skateboarders does not even bother to take a break.  Some other things people do while at the lock in would be film and shoot photos of their friends and make social media posts keeping people updated throughout the night.  We do see a lot of finger boards and finger board props so we had a lot of that happening while people were taking a break from their actual skateboards as well.
