Old Man Bowl Jam Revisited from April 1, 2017 Southside Skatepark
Old Man Bowl Jam Revisited to describe the day. Dave Donalson celebrated a birthday milestone at the 8th Annual Old Man Bowl Jam BBQ and Music Festival. This year was the largest line up of 40 and older Masters skateboarders and Bands set to play on two stages. Dave Donalson and Doo Doo Nichols had been working on the BBQ all week in preparation. Allen Losi’s band One Less Zero flew in from California to headline the event. Russ Driver Band killed the stage and handled the sound. Contorsion Session played a ripping set born of skateboading. The Cops kept us all entertained with on stage antics and a great set to set off the Street Stage. Konkerute played a solid set that everyone enjoyed. 5104 ripped some originals and some awesome live covers. Free Beer band set off the day on the Bowl Stage. Somehow Chip Queso managed to keep everything moving right along as MC. Many skateboarders and spectators continued to arrive throughout the day and it was the largest turn out in this events 8 year history.
At 5pm 250+ BBQ plates – pulled pork, brisket, potatoes and cole slaw fed crowd. Attendees also enjoyed a keg of EZ7 Pale Ale from Brash Brewery to wash it down.
Live music from One Less Zero, Russ Driver Band, Cops, Konkerute, 5104, Free Beer Band
With some amazing skateboarding Professionals, Amateurs and Hometown Heros the event became all of your favorite friends in one place at one time. Some of the skateboarders on hand the day of had ridden a board longer then twice the time you’ve been alive.
