American Blues Bearings started in Houston, Texas and are titanium coated ABEC 9 rated skateboarding bearing. American Blues started in response to the other leading bearing manufacturer on the market being the most underwhelming item chosen by customers while picking out new complete skateboards. Often while choosing a new complete the customers are always so siked on the board, trucks and wheels but when it came to bearing selection they seemed uninspired. Simply defaulting to the leading bearing on the market in that $20 price point.

At first samples were ordered from a leading bearing manufacturer. Those samples were given to a variety of skateboarders. Making sure to choose various skateboarders who really put their boards through intense usage on street, bows and pools. The samples dispersed where then forgotten about completely. About eight months later one of the skateboarders brought up the fact that they were still on these bearing samples. At that point the whole thing was an after thought. Then eventually another one of the skateobarders given the bearing samples came in ten months later and said the same thing. On both occasions we noted the bearing sample they were given and circled back to the manufacturer to see if the product costs could be low enough to sell in next to the leading uninspired brand at $20.
About eight months later one of the skateboarders brought up the fact that they were still on these bearing samples.
Sure enough, the manufacturer was able to provide a price at a quantity achievable to allow American Blues Bearings to become a reality. At this time these titanium coated bearings are sold exclusively at Southside Skatepark and Southside Skateshop.
