Skateshop Day was brought to life by Chris Nieratko at NJ Skateshop to help skate shops in the north and cooler temperatures worldwide bridge the gap from Holiday to Spring. Many established brands have stepped up in support by producing and offering these skateboarding shops limited products specifically for this purpose. Southside Skatepark in South Houston and Southside Boardshop in Clear Lake have been lucky enough to access these limited products for you, our skateboarding family.

Reflecting on the golden era of the Game of SKATE’s popularity, Southside Skatepark holds cherished memories of legendary moments. Jamie Thomas faced off against Dewon Song at a Texas Skate Jam Make a Wish Benefit, and Soletech Footwear organized the e’S Game of SKATE Championship during another Texas Skate Jam, with Sewa Kroetkov emerging as the victor. Southside Skatepark also hosted its own Shut Up and Game of SKATE events, some having as many as 100 or more participants across three age groups at their peak.

We are optimistic that the revival of this enjoyable event will bring back skateboarders who participated in the past. When we claim to host a Game of SKATE, we mean it – we set up lanes, provide lane judges, and oversee the games to ensure fairness for all participants.
